A Kaleidoscope of Oneness

Today I stood in a town I used to know.
I was happily waiting for someone I love, and as I waited, I watched a tide of strangers washing past me, people with lives I know nothing about.

A kaleidoscope of faces and forms.

And then a subtle shift of perspective…

A woman approached from the left, long braided hair flowing back and forth across her shoulders, and it was as though I remembered her.
Her dark, beautiful face, so familiar – a beloved friend from long ago?
Yet some part of me knew that we had never met.
Bemused and smiling, I watched her walking past, her wide hips swaying in tight jeans.

My eyes flowed left, and another woman came into focus, a sun-kissed, wrinkled face with a chi-chi straw hat tied under her chin.
Her face, too, so lovingly familiar – “I know you,” my heart sang.
And a part of me knew we had never met.

A little boy, no more than four trips around the sun, so intent on licking his ice cream that his feet were left to follow mummy all by themselves.
Again, as my eyes caressed his face, I knew him, and I loved him as I love my own children.

A man, trendied up with check-me-back shades and matching yellow shirt and shoes – another soul mate, so familiar and so comfortably known.

One after another, they came.

A kaleidoscope of Love.

Faces and forms as familiar as my own.

Furrowed brows, searching gazes, wrinkles, hair flowing, tongues licking, bottoms swaying, feet toddling, heels clicking, mouths laughing, hands holding.

And so it continued all morning as I moved through a town of strangers now turned lovers.

A Kaleidoscope of Oneness.

The Lover smiling at the Beloved.

Consciousness tipping its hat and winking back at itself.

A kaleidoscope of Love.
